Nicholas DiBenedetto

Originally hailing from the Northern Chicago suburb of Crystal Lake, I found my home here in Colorado a little over 10 years ago. I fell into the awning world purely by luck and stayed because I found a passion for creating beautiful spaces that people can enjoy year round. I began as an awning installer, which gives me a unique perspective about which product will not only look beautiful but function perfectly for each and every space. When I’m not shading Colorado, I can be found enjoying time with my family, catching a show at Red Rocks or tossing the frisbee for my dog while my kids play at the park. My greatest accomplishment is being a husband and father. My family is what drives me to provide spaces in which our customers can spend time with their loved ones and enjoy life to the fullest, just like we do at Mile High Shade.
Zach Pretekin
OWNER | CO-FOUNDER
I am born and raised in Denver and began cleaning awnings at age 14. I fell in love with the business and plan to work in this industry into retirement. Having worked with local companies and national manufacturers, I have seen all sides of the business, and I really enjoy being an owner of Mile High Shade. Helping our kind customers maximize use of their hot and sunny spaces is a joy, and I am grateful to be able to do so!
In my off time, I enjoy world travel, playing golf, and spending time with my family and friends.

Raised on the shores of Sloan’s Lake, I’m a 4th generation North Denverite! I love my home state of Colorado, and am beyond grateful to both do business and raise my children here. After starting Mile High Shade with Nicholas I’ve gained a new appreciation for just how much a good shade can change your life. We are lucky to spend hours outside under our own awning watching our kids play and enjoying each other’s company.
When I’m not scheduling estimates and answering emails, I like to curl up with a good book or spend the day finding a new adventure to share with my family. Behind being a wife and a mother of course, owning Mile High Shade has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Born in Oklahoma and raised here in Colorado, I have been incredibly lucky to experience a unique perspective of the beauty the West can offer! I’ve always loved working with my hands, and have had extensive experience with a variety of home improvement jobs over the years. I settled in and began my career installing shade products 7 years ago and haven’t looked back. I feel incredibly lucky that I get to spend every day outside in beautiful places creating shady spaces for our customers to enjoy. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family going camping or fishing, and above all watching my kids grow!

Born and raised in TN, made my way out to Colorado in 2017 to work in the awning & shade industry. I had never even heard of a retractable awning before I moved out here and became enamored with the luxury outdoor lifestyle products. Fell in love with Colorado and the Rocky Mountains and decided to call Denver home. Crossed paths with Nicholas and Zach, hit it off, and wanted to join the team. I have a passion for mountain sports and providing thoughtful solutions that truly elevate people’s outdoor spaces. I feel very grateful to do something for a living that I genuinely enjoy. I have an awesome wheaten terrier pup named Disco, and we’re always looking forward to the next mountain adventure when we get some time away from work.

I grew up in Chicago, where I knew Nicholas through a mutual family friend! At 26 years old, I found home here in beautiful Colorado! I currently live in the North Denver neighborhood, but have been working on finding and building my own dream home in the Rockies. When I’m not working I love seeing a show at Red Rocks, meeting new friends and exploring all that Colorado has to offer! I enjoy working for Mile High Shade because it is exactly what a family owned business should be.
